The first tournament of the fall season has come to a close. The weekend was too great for words to express, it's hard to know where to begin! It was awesome to see rookies finally get to play against different teams and enjoy the sport of ultimate. Overall, we went 3-0 on Saturday and 2-1 on Sunday, if it weren't for Saucy alums! Check out the tournament results at the bottom of the Team Info page.
Big thanks to IHUC alumni, Bryan Brooks for coming out to coach this weekend. Everyone is excited to have had him for this tournament and for the rest of the season. Gotta put in a word for our rookies. They played ultimate the way it should be played, with lots of spirit and enthusiasm. Not once during the weekend was there a need for "pick me ups" or a boost in energy because it was always there. The rookie point played on Saturday showed just that as they worked the field and scored a goal vs Grinnell. The team as a whole had fun, yet worked hard to get what we wanted. It was the best feeling to set goals and see everyone focus on readjustments made as different teams were played. We finished the weekend in 3rd place with 5 wins and 1 losses. Next tournament is No Wisconsequences, October 11-12 so best bet that we'll be practicing harder and getting better until then! P.S. Stay tuned later in the week for photo highlights from Grinnell on the Media page. Things like this happened -- It's that time of year again. In the effort to keep you guys updated, we just want to tell you how happy we are that college season is finally starting again this weekend. There's no better way to get rookies hooked onto ultimate than to bring them to Elephantitis put on by Grinnell Ultimate. We can't wait to be back on the field and show everyone what Saucy is all about. Oh, and Beat State! |
